Hello! My name is Mrs. McClendon and this is the 8th grade Georgia History course website. I am glad that you came to visit. The purpose of this site is to provide a space for parents to check when various assessments will take place and for students to have access to links that might help them build on their understanding of Georgia's history. I also hope to let parents know about any upcoming events that our class may be having.
In general, students will be completing their work in class. Students will not be issued a book this year because I feel as if there is more than enough time provided in class to complete these assignments. There is a basic structure in my classroom that will be repeated for every unit: define vocabulary, read the chapter, complete chapter assignments. After each chapter, the students will be given notes on the major concepts and facts that were covered.
The students and parents should expect a vocabulary quiz for each chapter and a major project for each unit, which may include more than one chapter. The other thing that teachers need to expect is that students will be assigned weekly current event assignments due every Friday without exceptions. The current event requirements are provided to the students every Monday and remain on the board the entire week, which means that the students have no excuse for not completing it.
If you ever have any questions, feel free to contact me via email at [email protected]
I hope this year will be a productive and collaborative one!
